A hair transplant doesn’t end on treatment day. How you care for yourself in the days and weeks that follow can influence healing and the overall outcome. The following information offers general guidance and does not replace your treatment team’s individual instructions.
We deliberately schedule the treatment day without parallel patient treatments, so your appointment stays the focus.
Planning is based on your personal starting situation and a natural overall look.
From the initial analysis through preparation to aftercare, you have a clear point of contact.
A personal alternative for patients who want their treatment performed in Germany.
In the first hours after treatment, rest is the priority. The recipient area should be handled gently and not touched or rubbed. Your treatment team will go through the specific instructions that apply to you directly after the procedure.
During this period, mild scabbing in the treated area is common and part of the usual healing process. Slight swelling around the forehead or eye area is also possible. Your sleeping position, how to handle the donor and recipient areas, and when to wash your hair for the first time will be discussed with you individually.
Over the following weeks, you can usually return to everyday life step by step. Your treatment team will let you know when physical activity, direct sun exposure, or wearing headwear is safe again. These timeframes can vary from person to person.
What matters most from here is patience. It’s common for transplanted hair to shed temporarily before new growth begins. A visible result typically develops over several months – how quickly and to what extent varies individually.
This generally includes touching or scratching the treated area, unprotected intense sun exposure, tight headwear before you’ve been cleared, and alcohol or nicotine in the first few days. Your treatment team will set the specific timeframes and restrictions that apply to you.
Contact your treatment team if you experience increasing severe pain, fever, pronounced redness, purulent discharge, or persistent bleeding. In case of acute, severe symptoms, immediate medical attention may be necessary – don’t hesitate to see a doctor or emergency service.
This information is intended as general guidance. Your treating doctors’ specific instructions always take priority over general information – if you’re ever unsure, feel free to reach out to us.
We want a hair transplant to never feel like mass processing. That’s why, at our Köln location, we focus on personal processes, clear communication, and deliberately limited treatment capacity.
